A good website is a must for any business these days and getting one ready in a short time as well as in the most affordable manner is possible thanks to several different website designers offering their services even online. These services are usually provided by a team of professionals that comprise of a web designer, web programmer, content writer and SEO writer along with marketing professionals. Such a complete team will be able to provide the best solutions to all that is required for a website and most importantly meet deadlines.

Work Out A Plan To Design A Website

Many people, either for business or as a hobby, design a website. Usually serious businesses take the services of professionals to get their website ready while individuals may try their hand at doing it on their own. The later case is also easy with a lot of video tutorials available online for help along with many freebies available from hosting providers that can get their website ready in a matter of hours.

A professional team offering web designing services must first understand the requirements of the customers, the kind of business the website needs to support and the latest trends in designs. The programmers need to use the best possible database features and programming languages and modules to ensure best performance. All this is possible only if they are in touch with the latest and have good working knowledge of all of them. Their content writers help with the matter for the website and SEO help is required in order to stay in touch with popular trends.

The website domain name also plays a very important role in its popularity and some amount of thought must go into selecting the right one. It must be registered and the website designed can then be hosted on servers to be accessible on the search engines. In order for the website to get the best listing on these search engines, the content needs to be unique and the design must be based on the latest software features that are supported by the servers. Any website needs to get the right kind of traffic in order to be a successful business proposition and each and every step in designing the site determines this.

Web Design In Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a business and entertainment hub and there is great demand for website designing here. There are several professional studios offering web design in Los Angeles that offer fantastic solutions to their clients at very affordable rates. One key feature in this business is the customer relationship; both customers and service providers must work on a long-term relationship for their own benefits. Customers need to update and maintain websites regularly and service providers need a good client base to thrive in this highly competitive business.

Now a days most of the website designers provide complete solutions for website management. They include designing to hosting and maintaining these websites. They ensure the right kind of hosting service for best security and exposure of the sites on the World Wide Web and even take care of selling extra disk space for banner ads in order to generate some income from these websites as well.

The Mozilla foundation has decided to restrict its browser to hardware in 32-bit. Reason: incompatibility problems of 64-bit version with plugins.

So no more is the Firefox version for 64-bit architectures available. Mozilla’s decision happened yesterday. The reason for this change? From the mouth of Benjamin Smedberg, one of its engineers, invokes compatibility issues with plugins, all are not available for this version (and therefore not always able to manage some Windows procedures that are needed), but also stability problems of this edition.

A decision that still seems difficult to understand. Internet Explorer and Opera have in fact already both versions optimized for 64-bit processors. For its part, Google is actively working on the issue.A version of Chrome already exists for 64-bit computers running Linux, and a 64-bit edition of Windows is in preparation. The same side that also offers Adobe Flash for 64-bit. The course objective is to optimize the execution of applications.

In the end, Mozilla could therefore find itself isolated, and the only browser to offer limited to 32-bit. Because of the compatibility libraries provided by Windows, it is still possible however to run Firefox in 32-bit Windows installed on a 64-bit architecture.

Do you sometimes feel lost when trying to be productive? Then it might be time to add a few tools to your arsenal. Whether you need help with time management or just need a way to keep up with all your business contact information, you can use web apps to make the most of your time. The following are just seven amazing web apps every freelancer should know about.

RescueTime

Do you spend your entire day on the computer, but have little to show for it? RescueTime allows you to analyze how your time is spent by tracking how you really spend your time. Now you’ll know that you spend 6 hours a day on Facebook rather than actually working.

Focus Booster

If you have a hard time focusing, this is the best web app out there. Focus Boost has you work in 25 minute spurts and then take a 5 minute break. It encourages you to split projects into smaller tasks that can be completed in those 25 minute periods so that you get more done.

OpenOffice

OpenOffice is a must for those that need a word processor and spreadsheet program because it’s free. Best of all, you can save your documents as the file type needed, such as a Word document. One feature that makes OpenOffice awesome is the ability to convert documents to PDF files with the click of a button.

DarkRoom

It can be hard to focus on an article or manuscript when there is a lot of clutter on your screen. With DarkRoom, you can type on a full-screen word professing program. You don’t even have to look at the start up menu.

Dropbox

Want to work on your documents from various locations, then Dropbox is a great app. You can add documents to your Dropbox from your computer and then access the document on your tablet or smartphone.

Now Do This

This is a simple web app that encourages you to actually get things done. There’s no bells and whistles, it’s all about adding items to the list and then checking them off when as you get them done.

ContactMe

Last, but not least, as a freelancer there’s a good chance that you might have a huge number of contacts. ContactMe allows you to gather all that information in one place making it easier to find the information you need.

If you’d like to make the most of your time, you definitely need to look into these web apps. Whether you want to focus on what you’re writing or save all your business contact information in one place, these apps are a must for any freelancer.

The world of cyber shopping has become ubiquitous. Almost everything is available online and with the help of effective ecommerce, any company can sell almost anything over the internet. But this very popularity of ecommerce operations means that businesses have to be different from every other website out there. After all, why would a shopper come back to buy his next product or avail of his next service from one particular company if he has had a bad time navigating and shopping there! So making it easy for the shopper to fill up his virtual shopping cart is a great way to enhance shopping experience and this is what Magento promises.

Magento, the open source web application from Magento Inc., an eBay company has caused a paradigm shift in the ecommerce space. Developers love the software because it offers them a playing field full of features and functionalities. Business owners love Magento because it gives them complete control over their own websites and promises and delivers higher returns on investment. Customers love Magento, even if they do not know that the website is being powered by it; for it gives the superb features and capabilities. So almost every stakeholder in the ecommerce domain comes away extremely happy with the software. So what makes Magento Cart tick?

One of the aspects of Magento’s popularity is the features provided by GoMage ProCart. This software comes in Version 1.2 and is a Magento Ajax Cart extension which enables customers to do many things on the website. How many times would you, as a cyber-shopper, have felt frustrated at the time taken to reload the page? GoMage ProCart does away with the need for reloading the page when customers:

Add products selected from the category page

Remove products from the cart

Compare products and read product reviews

Add up products from the “Based on Your Selection”

Change – either add or remove – products from the “My Wishlist” category

Magento also provides a lot of support for developers wanting to do work on the platform. For instance, there is a significantly greater simplicity to its code structure. This means that developers do not have to pore over several lines of code. They can also use the flexibility given by Magento to create highly customized pages and themes. This flexibility of design is made possible by the easy interface that Magento provides. The end result for all ecommerce companies is to make things attractive, easy and advantageous to their customers and this is possible with the use of the modular designs that Magento delivers. With the use of Magento, the business owner can control not just his website but also multiple Magento sites. This high degree of control is possible through one single administration panel. Now that is truly impressive!

The simplicity and ease of operations that Magento delivers in terms of control over the website, payment gateways, shopping cart, shipping options, marketing and website development also has one more important benefit for the ecommerce business owner. This benefit is security. With a single point of control comes the ability to ensure high security as well. Updates to this security are also significantly easier with the use of Magento.

Everyone that seems to get into online business these days is bringing out information products. They’re great because they are so cheap and easy to produce. You can spend a weekend writing and have something out by Monday. Once it’s up you will start making sales. It sounds great, but do you understand the biggest flaw with an eBook? Once the customer buys something that’s it. If you want to make money again of the same customer you will have to sell them another book. It’s hard to scale up.

Software on the other hand is different. When people sign up to your software they can pay a monthly fee. You can get the same customer to pay you every month, and that’s OK because software is perceived to be of a much higher value. It’s going to be harder to get something together, but when you do you can really start scaling up your business pretty fast. There are certain things you have to make sure you do and software becomes a lot less difficult than what it seems. We can go over those things now.

Have a great design

This is something that needs to be right from the beginning. If people see a bad design in the sales copy there will be much less people willing to spend money. This isn’t 1999 anymore and people expect a little more like something that looks nice. If this is some kind of software people will use often they don’t want to be disgusted every time they load it. Try to keep it nice and simple and you won’t go far wrong. No weird and wonderful colors unless they fit in with your overall message. Work with a great graphic designer to get it right.

Complicated coding

Nowhere in the rule book does it say you need to be a computer programmer to bring out your own software. But if you don’t know how to code you will obviously need to hire someone that can do the job properly. If you’re expecting to charge a monthly fee you can’t sell something that took you a few months to do while learning from a book. Make sure the programmer is capable enough to write good code. There will probably need to be upgrades to fix problems and add features, but you don’t want the first version to scare people away for life.

It needs to be easy to use

How many times have you opened up software and realized it’s going to take you years to learn? This is OK if it’s really complicated, but you don’t want it being harder than it already is. People should be able to find everything they need easily. It’s not a game of hide and seek. Things should be labeled properly. No-one should need to click on buttons to find out what they do. You can make it so much easier for someone by also supplying amazing tutorial videos of everything the software is capable of.

Good follow-up support

When you bring out an information product it’s pretty easy because you don’t have to deal much with customer support. Software will make you a lot more money, but you will have to spend a lot more time dealing with customers. Some people won’t be able to get it working and they’ll come to ask you questions. There will be bugs that need fixed and you will get plenty of messages about them. You don’t need to do it yourself. It’s quite easy to hire a team, but just make sure you hire some good employees because customer service is crucial.

World-class data centers are ideal for HPC

Colocation facilities are growing in demand as more and more businesses require High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. These well-built facilities provide sufficient power and cooling to ensure that the HPC environments operate at maximum capacity. Many businesses also currently struggle with in-house data centers that do not have the capacity to keep pace with their growing need for HPC capabilities.

Even among modern data centers, only a few are adequately equipped to address the needs of HPC users. Pricing differs among facilities, but the value of a premium colocation provider is likely to outweigh the cost. High-end facilities that are prepared to meet the current need as well as future HPC requirements are referred to as world-class data centers (WCDCs).

WCDCs are built specifically for the purpose of housing complex server systems. These facilities offer the most efficient use of power and the most effective cooling systems. The pricing may be slightly higher in these WCDCs, but businesses benefit immediately from the high quality service and can look forward to an ongoing partnership as they grow.

WCDCs save companies from the high construction costs associated with designing, building and expanding a specialized data center. These colocation facilities eliminate the need for businesses to maintain and staff an in-house center. WCDCs are uniquely designed to handle multiple HPC clusters and built to allow for expansion as demand increases.

The pricing for these colocation centers includes 24x7x365 staffing and network uptime. WCDCs provide experienced staff with the knowledge to support customers with any issue that may arise. Businesses benefit from greater flexibility, accessibility and security at a lower price.

Industries that benefit most from HPC

High Performance Computing integrates the use of multiple processers for calculation-intensive tasks. Some examples of these tasks are:

Quantum physics

Physical simulations, such as a plane in a wind tunnel

Computing the structures and properties of chemical compounds

Complex modeling of the Earth’s subsurface

The increased speed of these calculations benefits industries such as biomedical engineering, CAD/CAE, financial institutions, and meteorology. Perhaps the industry that benefits the most is oil & gas. HPC provides increased accuracy in reservoir modeling, faster data delivery, and better analysis and forecasting for oil & gas companies. This allows oil & gas businesses to be more effective with their decision-making, saving them money.

The future of HPC

As the demand for high-quality HPC colocation increases, so does the pricing for these services. The pricing largely depends on the increased amount of power they use and the excess heat they produce, requiring advanced cooling methods. Only a few colocation centers offer these advanced cooling options today.

WCDC colocation pricing reflect the quality of the service they provide. Lower-end data centers are cheaper, but they cannot provide the specialty services or capacity for HPC expansion that a WCDC provides. The ability to support capacity deployment is a critical factor in choosing a data center that supports HPC deployments.

Brian Albertson believes there are many factors to consider when evaluating high perfomance computing colocation and colocation pricing. His articles educate readers about the features that set different colocation centers apart. Evaluating how certain factors affect cost allows readers to determine whether the provider is worth the price.

Hackers can search through the code and find vulnerabilities to exploit to their advantage. 9% of sites on the entire internet are available to any hacker willing to put in the time to pinpoint these exploits. This is a huge number of websites to be at someones disposal at any instant.

WordPress sites are very good and easy targets as well. Due to the mass number of WordPress sites out there figuring out an exploit can potentially be very profitable for someone and makes the time investment worthwhile for them. Nearly all WordPress sites have “Powered by WordPress” on the bottom. Hackers can simply google these search terms and find WordPress sites. WordPress often updates their code and the version of WordPress is also listed on the bottom of the page just waiting to be searched and exploited by hackers. Many sites also have a copyright date, making it easy to target old versions of WordPress.

WordPress is ran and designed by volunteers. This can mean that the people aren’t nearly as qualified as the could be and could lead to potential flaws in coding and raises the question if they are capable enough to create a secure open source platform to be utilized by millions of users.

Since its used on so many sites, its the main platform that hackers target. Millions of websites are powered by WordPress. This fact alone makes it an optimal target for hackers. By just hacking one platform they can gain access to millions of websites allowing them to profit for themselves or just wreak havoc for just their own amusement.

Joomla powers 4% of the entire web. Its much more complex code, leading to more vulnerabilities. More vulnerabilities leads to more exploits leads to potentially easier exploits which then can prove to produce more hackers aiming at a web design platform. Together, the 5 major CMS, content management systems, power nearly 20% of the web. This is an enormous amount of websites that use similar coding that can all be and have been hacked given enough time put into it. The results are devastating to businesses. Hackers can get into their system and completely wipe it out.

Plugin Vulnerability

Plugins and extensions are made by users for free. They are not all professional programmers, leaving them open to exploits as well. Plugins are nifty little things you can place on your website to add cool features to it. These can be highways to your internal control panel and can expedite the process of hacking immensely.

The Future of Hacking

The exploits are not going to stop. Recently a virus named Stuxnet infiltrated many government agencies and nuclear power plant facilities. The virus was capable of altering conditions in the nuclear reactor while still giving the all clear to the people who maintained the plants. This was the most complex virus ever seen before and is also available open source. The code for this virus is out there for anyone to see. If this is possible then anything can be possible, from infecting airplane control panels and causing a massive simultaneous terrorist strike to a virus that makes soda machines spit out sodas at no cost. Coding is becoming warfare of sorts with governments developing viruses to infect other enemy governments with viruses for spying and destroying information.

Is your site secure? Chances are there is an exploit available out there to hack into your website and all that is waiting for is someone with the time and the motive to hack into it. Many websites do not use the latest security software needed to secure a website. Especially an open source platform available to everyone.

Prevention

The prevention of viruses and hacking is the most effective way to combat them. Always making sure that you have up-to-date software installed on your computer as well as your website server is essential in keeping your website safe from hackers.

Viruses

Hacking doesn’t just top at websites. As mentioned previously viruses are still a growing field and even Mac users should be worried about infiltrations. As Macs become more popular it becomes more profitable to develop viruses for Mac operating systems leading to more people going after them. Jailbreaking your iPhone has been around for nearly every single version of iOS this is nothing more than hacking the operating system. If that is possible then so is hacking any other Mac operating system. Viruses are capable of practically anything. It is up to the coder themselves to decide what they want it to achieve and with enough coding anything is possible.

If you don’t back up your computer files, you could lose them with a simple virus. It is so easy for a computer’s integrity to be compromised, no matter how protected it may seem. If you want to avoid losing the most important information on your PC, you need to find some way to copy and store it. Here are four creative ways to back up computer files.

Email Yourself

Your email account can be used for more than sending pictures of Uncle Buddy on the couch. You could send yourself emails with important files in them, and then all you would have to do is go back through your emails to find them. If you wanted to organize the files, you could create folders in your email account to store them. Make a file for homework, scholarship applications, financial statements, receipts, or anything else you need. Just make sure you title the messages well so they are easy to search for later on.

Carbon Copy Everything

There are several websites online that will carbon copy your files at all times. These sites instantly back up your computer throughout the day, so you never have to worry about losing your information. You have to be careful with this though because some sites will use access to your computer to insert viruses into the system. Make sure you work with a reputable site if you are going to use a service like this.

Download Dropbox

You can get a free Dropbox to use on your computer, and that will automatically sync the files inside to the internet. Rather than getting something that will copy all of your computer files, you could use this to copy the most important ones. The free version of the service only offers 2 GB of storage, but you could upgrade to a premium account if that wasn’t enough. It just depends on how many files you were trying to store.

Buy an External Hard Drive

If all else fails, you can use an external hard drive to back up computer files. Doing this would allow you to basically create a copy of your files in a massive flash drive, and all you have to do after that is protect the hard drive itself. You will obviously lose the files if you lose the external, but that shouldn’t happen easily. External hard drives have significantly come down in price over the years, so you should be able to get something you can work with without having to spend a ton of money along the way.

No matter how seldom or often you use the computer, you need to have a secondary copy of your important files. Use the ideas above to back up your computer files in the future, and you won’t have to worry about losing them unexpectedly.

This day and age, everyone is online. Whether they’re surfing the web on their lunch break, checking Safari on their smart phone or watching their favorite show on Hulu, the internet has infiltrated our lives. Don’t believe me? Try not looking at the internet for 48 hours. It’s much harder than you think. Everything from weather updates, restaurant addresses and movie times are looked up constantly.

It would make sense that if you have a business, you should have a website. Or at least a way for people to find you online. Is Facebook enough for your business or do you need a full blown website? Below are some questions to consider when making your decision.

Who Are Your Target Customers

Do you have a business that caters to teenagers? Or a small mechanic’s shop? Do you sell products online? All this matters because you will market and advertise to your potential customers. Teens spend most of their time on youtube and Facebook. So having a good Facebook page might reach them easier than a website. If you are looking at selling your products online, a website is a must that has an e-commerce store attached. If you get most of your business by word of mouth, a website might not be the best option immediately.

What Is Your Budget

Developing a website is a business investment. No different than purchasing a computer, buying start up supplies or paying for business cards. It can be pricey depending how complex you want it, but you should be ready to pay at least $2500 for a basic site. You can try and make your own but as someone who tried, I don’t recommend it. Once it’s set up, the web developer should educate you on how to make changes and updates yourself so you won’t have annoying on-going fees. If you can swing it, developing a website is a smart tool to market your company.

Do You Have The Capacity To Keep Up With It

A good website stays current. It should have an active news feed/updates. If you can blog, you should do that too. And you should be prepared to share the website with people. Many companies hire someone to keep up with their website and social media outlets. But building a beautiful site won’t help you much if it sits stagnant. Put your money to work and advertise it!

Is There A Need

Have people asked you what your website is? Are you at a loss as to where to direct potential customers to get info about your company? Does your competitor have a fantastic website that might be pulling business from you? If any of these answers are a yes, you should consider building a website. Realistically, you’re losing an edge if you don’t have one. If I’m researching a business, say a restaurant, on yelp and they don’t have a link to a website, I almost always pass them over for one that does. There’s too many options to go with someone who doesn’t have immediate information about their business online.

Colocation is one of the hottest topics in computing today. Understanding the benefits of it as it relates to cloud computing and remote data storage can help your business achieve more and provide more reliable services to its customers. Services like those offered by Digital Realty Trust and other companies that provide data centers in Chicago and other cities are designed specifically to meet the needs of your business. This customized approach to storage and maintenance ensures that you get the services that you need at a price your company can afford.

What It Is

Depending on your company’s requirements, colocation services can range from turnkey server arrays and dedicated workspaces to full IT support and maintenance by on-site staff. It will include the following, at a minimum:

Building security and 24/7 monitoring

Appropriate cooling and humidity control systems

Secure and lockable server arrays

Reliable power and backup power generators

High-speed Internet access

These features make remote and on-site maintenance practical and convenient. Some Chicago data center providers also include complete maintenance plans that include full redundancy measures to reduce downtime for your company’s online e-commerce website.

Benefits of Full Maintenance

By outsourcing necessary upgrades, back-ups and other maintenance tasks to the expert IT staff, your company can reduce costs in a number of ways, including:

Fewer trips to and from the location

Reduced IT costs

Enhanced productivity

Decreased downtime for upgrades and maintenance

Full maintenance plans allow a greater degree of flexibility in deciding when to upgrade and back up corporate data. Service employees can schedule these necessary tasks at your convenience, allowing your company to provide the fastest possible response and loading times for online customers throughout your company’s peak traffic hours.

The Importance of Emergency Services

Colocation services can be especially valuable when emergencies arise. Because your company’s information is maintained offsite, it will remain safe even in the event of a natural disaster or prolonged power outage. These buildings that will house your systems are typically built in areas where such events are less likely to occur; failsafe backup power supplies are also part of the overall service, providing even more security for your company. Choosing to colocate makes it simple to continue operations from a remote site or, in some cases, in the storage location’s own facilities.

By considering these services when choosing a building to house your valuable resources, you can more effectively protect your business while ensuring the most cost-effective and reliable services for your company’s needs.
